This year marks the 48th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.
The Fair Housing Act, “was enacted in 1968 as part of civil-rights legislation. The law prohibits discrimination in home sales, financing and rental based on the seven protected classes that include:
- Race
- Color
- Disability
- Familial Status
- Religion
- Sex” (www.coloradohousingconnects.org)
The Mayor of Fort Collins, Wade Troxell, proclaimed that April is fair housing month due to the continual efforts of organizations in Fort Collins and their dedication to fair housing.
