Hello!
It is that time of year again to address fall house maintenance in preparation for the winter months. We hope the following information will be helpful!

Furnace
Please also make sure to replace your furnace filter and consider having your furnace serviced. Perform a test run prior to use and clear all obstacles from vents.
Alarms
You may also want to double check your smoke alarm batteries and carbon monoxide alarms. The following are some reputable HVAC contractors to help:

Pipes
The evenings have cooled considerably just this week so don’t forget to unhook your exterior hoses and consider an insulated cover for the hose bibb(s). Frozen pipes are a nightmare! Wrap pipes that run through unheated spaces-crawlspaces, basements or garages with rubber sleeves or fiberglass insulation.
Gutters & Roof
Make sure roof gutters and downspouts are clean! Check roof flashing for leaks and address any missing shingles. Trim tree branches away from roof. Contact the following handy workers for help: Wes Baumgartner 970-227-2245, Maria Goransson 970-556-2970 or Laurie King 970-231-1876.
Chimney & Fireplace
If it’s been a few years, schedule a chimney sweep. You should also schedule an inspection at the beginning of every season to make sure there are no foreign objects lodged in the chimney. You can buy a protective cap with a screen to keep out objects and rain.
Insulation & Windows
Consider adding insulation to the attic. If you go into the attic and you can see the ceiling joists, you know there isn’t enough insulation because a ceiling joist is at most 10 or 11 inches.
Install storm windows to add an extra layer of protection and warmth. Consider budgeting to update windows a few at a time or purchase a window insulator kit.
Reverse Ceiling Fans
You can reverse the direction of your ceiling fans to push warm air downward.
