Featured Business of March: Swedish Fixins’

This March, with the temperatures starting to rise and “spring cleaning” just around the corner, we decided to feature another one of our suggested vendors for the Featured Vendor of the Month! Maria Goransson with Swedish Fixins’, a Handy Ma’am services company that is based on a solid foundation: constructing new houses, additions, and remodels with Colorado green builders Dennis Sovick and Chris Carrier. She recently partnered with Broad Strokes and Mary Klecan. Broad Strokes is a 100% women-owned and operated painting company serving Northern Colorado along the Front Range. They specialize in interior painting and bring a wealth of experience to each and every project. We asked Maria a few questions about both Swedish Fixins’ and Broad Strokes, the answers are below!

1. What services do you provide?
We’re excited to unveil Broad Strokes Inc, a collaboration between Swedish Fixins’ Handy Ma’am and HandyGals. A Northern Colorado company, 100% women-owned and operated, we specialize in interior painting, and can take care of every aspect of your project in a professional, clean and efficient manner. We have over 30 years of combined experience painting and doing home improvement projects, and we are excited to join together in this new business venture. Locally owned and fully insured, we offer not only interior painting, but also Handy Ma’am and carpentry services as well as project management. If you have a project in mind and don’t know where to start, call us! We can help you from the brainstorming stage, to developing and implementing a project plan. No project is too big or too small, so let us be the ones you call for all your painting and other home project needs.

2. Pricing for your services?
We give free estimates!

3. Your past experiences/what brought you to this area of work?
Born and raised in Sweden, Maria brings a broad array of construction skills to the company. She started my handy ma’am training early and have been handling the leaky, loose and cracked since she was two years old. Her training continued with several years working with Dennis Sovick and Chris Carrier, building new homes, additions and remodels. She has also worked for Solar Glass Window and Door, gaining valuable experience in the field of exterior openings. Mary Klecan has been renovating and re-selling homes since 2000 when she retired from Namaqua Center in Loveland, where she had been the executive director of the children’s treatment center for 21 years. She and her partner incorporated Handy Gals in 2005 and have been painting, repairing and remodeling residential and commercial projects ever since. At any given time, you will find her either recovering from her last hike down Grand Canyon or planning the next one.

4. What year did you start?
Maria started in 1999, she is currently working on 15 years of experience.

5. Are you offering any specials?
Refer one new client to Swedish Fixins’ or Broad Strokes, and if you are one of the first two clients to do so, we will give either you or the person you referred to us (you decide) FIVE gallons of free paint from Valspar (Lowes). That’s almost $200 worth of paint!

6. What is the benefit of working with you over other handyman (Handy Ma’am)?
We are on time, clean, courteous, respectful and honest.
