Activities This Christmas

This 2020 Christmas season will be different due to COVID restrictions. However, that is not going to stop great organizations from providing Christmas cheer. Below are lots of great activities this Christmas for you and your family.

Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens

The Denver Botanic Gardens are having their annual light display and it is magical. Tickets cost $16 to $21 and are available through January 16th.

Camp Christmas

Camp Christmas will be virtual this year, but they are still providing lots of fun Christmas activities to the campers. A base camp kit costs $12 to get started.

A Child’s Christmas in Wales

A Child’s Christmas in Wales is a radio special that is put on by the Arvada Center. Listeners can listen to this tale as much as they want through December 27th for $10.

Christmas in Color

Bandimere Speedway and Water World are offering a no contact drive through Christmas light experience through January 3rd. Listen to holiday music synchronized to the lights while you drive through. Tickets are available for $30 per car.

Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker will not be a live production this year but if you have access to a TV and Rocky Mountain PBS its free. The ballet will air multiple times through the holiday season on December 18th at 9pm, December 19th at 1am, December 24th at 7 pm, and December 25th at midnight.

December Delights at Four Mile Historic Park

Four Mile Historic Park is offering a family friendly winter outing for your family. A skating rink and scavenger hunt will keep the kids busy as you enjoy the beautiful lights and art installations.

Hunt for the Holiday Gnome

Take a scavenger hunt through Loveland on an adventure to find 10 gnomes that are on the loose. Download Eventzee from the app store and use the code Herbie to find the game and access the challenges for finding the gnomes.

I Love Christmas Movies at Gaylord Rockies

Interactive exhibits show scenes from beloved Christmas movies from National Lampon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf, Polar Express and more. Spots are limited due to social distancing rules, but tickets are available for $13.99 for kids and $24.99 for adults through January 3rd.

Miles High Tree

A 110-foot-tall digital tree art installation is back. You may remember it last year from its debut in front of the Denver Performing Arts Complex but now it is at the 16th Street Mall. Watch the light show from a distance or get in line to watch the five-minute program up close from inside the tree.

Old Town Square Skate Rink

The synthetic ice-skating rink is open in Old Town and is free for all who wish to attend. Including skate rental! Other activities this Christmas in Old Town could include looking at the beautiful lights.

The Polar Express at the Colorado Railroad Museum

The Colorado Railroad Museum’s annual train ride based on the Polar Express will go on. Each child gets a golden ticket, hot chocolate, and a present from Santa. Pajamas are encouraged and guests will be seated in the heated outdoor car. Tickets cost $95 per person and kids two and under ride free.

Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo

One million lights cover the Denver Zoo’s eighty-acre property and it’s a must see. The display is available through December 31st and the only way to get tickets in online at the Zoo website.
