Old Town Square construction will begin next week on Wednesday, February 11th. The Downtown Development Authority, city officials and businesses of Old Town will kick off the $3 million construction project to open up the area, add new infrastructure and update the almost 30-year-old downtown hub.

The new design (Option “D”) will be better able to suit the hundreds of events that go on in Old Town Square throughout the year. Through wear and tear of almost three decades, the Square will be more suitable with new infrastructures for concerts and festivals.

The “face lift” as some are calling it is planned to be completed in phases. For more information about the renovation plans and timeline visit the Downtown Development Authority’s website. The DDA will also be hosting an Old Town Square Renovation Groundbreaking Ceremony on February 11th from 4-4:30 in the Square.

So be sure that when you’re making a venture into Old Town for the next few months plan ahead and look out for the construction!
